Travis is an attorney at Gillam and Smith with experience beyond his years. Before joining the firm in 2021, Travis was an associate at Winston & Strawn LLP in Dallas, where he litigated complex commercial disputes, patent cases, trade secrets and unfair competition cases, False Claims Act cases, employment disputes, products liability cases, and class actions. Now at Gillam and Smith, Travis focuses on patent and personal injury cases in Texas federal and state courts.
During his first five years in practice, Travis served on multiple trial teams, argued dozens of motions and other disputed issues in federal court, took and defended many depositions (including those of expert witnesses and corporate representatives), briefed countless pre- and post-trial motions, and tried to the bench a Convention Against Torture case in the U.S. Immigration Court in Detroit, Michigan.
After graduating from Lorena High School in Lorena, Texas, Travis attended the University of Arkansas, where he received a B.A. in Political Science and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He earned his law degree summa cum laude from Baylor Law School, where he served on the Editorial Board of the Law Review as the Managing Senior Executive Editor. During law school, Travis served as an intern to the Honorable Catharina Haynes of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. After graduating, Travis clerked for then-District Judge (now Chief Judge) Rodney Gilstrap of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
Travis and his wife Lindsey (a family lawyer) live in Tyler with their two young daughters.
